Why invest in Northeast Brazil.
Imagine a place where there are no natural disasters or terrorist threats, where the sea is blue, the people are kind and the sun shines year-round: this place is the Brazilian Northeast. With an area extending 1.6 million km² (617,763 sq. miles), the region has 51 million inhabitants, equal to 30% of the Brazilian population. There are 3,300 km (2,050 miles) of paradisiacal beaches that are easy to access.
These are some of the things that have transformed the Brazilian Northeast into one of the world's most sought after tourist destinations. As a consequence, the region also has attracted an increasing number of foreign investors, especially Europeans, who are interested in establishing partnerships with Brazilian executives to develop tourism and real estate projects in the region.
According to a study conducted by the Brazilian Central Bank, in 2006 foreign groups invested US$ 1.352 billion in real estate and tourism projects in the country, representing a 410% growth compared to 2005 (US$ 296 million). These ventures are both luxury resorts and vacation homes, mostly located in the Brazilian Northeastern region.
The growth of foreign investments in Brazil is explained, among other factors, by the safe environment for conducting business. The rights of foreign investors are respected and there is no control over transferring profits abroad. Furthermore, the Brazilian government is taking measures to facilitate real estate financing and improve the infrastructure of Brazilian airports to accommodate more international flights.
